SNAP in the NewsAllegheny County Press Release
|
SNAP™SNAP (Stop Now and Plan) is a program that treats behaviorally troubled boys and girls between the ages of six and twelve who have gotten in trouble with the police. The program is the longest running, highest ranked, and the most easily replicated program of its kind. Bringing SNAP to Pittsburgh is a collaborative project between the Allegheny County Juvenile Probation Department, The Youth Crime Prevention Council, Pittsburgh Social Venture Partners, and local experts in the field of Juvenile Delinquency. A steering committee comprised of individuals representing these entities has chosen McKeesport based social service agency Auberle to implement a two-year pilot of the program beginning in January 2008. Auberle was chosen after a competitive RFP process (details and timeline below) that began early this spring. SNAP manuals and other information are available for review by contacting: Pittsburgh Social Venture Partners For further information on the SNAP Model please contact the developers at the Child Development Institute in Toronto, Canada. |
